New Lainya County Caretaker Commissioner Installed, Assumes Official Duties

(LAINYA COUNTY) – The newly appointed Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County, Laku Micah Wani, has officially been installed and has immediately assumed his official duties, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the county’s leadership amid a strong show of public support from thousands of residents.

Thousands of people gathered in Lainya on Thursday to welcome Hon. Laku Micah Wani following his appointment as Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County.

The official installation was conducted by the Central Equatoria State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement. The ceremony was attended by the County Commissioners of Yei River County, Morobo County, and Wonduruba Administrative Payam, alongside senior government officials and community leaders.

Former Lainya County Commissioner, Hon. Huda Laila Michael, joined security personnel, traditional chiefs, women and youth representatives, and other dignitaries in witnessing the handover and installation ceremony.

Shortly after taking office, Hon. Laku Micah Wani convened and chaired the county’s first Security Meeting, designated as Security Meeting No. 01/2026.

During the briefing, security commanders presented updates on the general security situation across the county, reporting that Lainya remains calm and stable, with no major security incidents recorded.

In his remarks, Commissioner Laku commended the security organs for their dedication to maintaining peace and security. He urged them to continue working closely with local communities to preserve stability and strengthen peaceful coexistence throughout the county.

The installation ceremony attracted large crowds from across Lainya County, reflecting public interest and optimism as the new county leadership begins its mandate.
