(JOHANNESBURG) – Senior Presidential Envoy Hon. Adut Kiir has arrived in South Africa to hold high level talks aimed at boosting cooperation between South Sudan and South Africa.
Hon. Kiir began her visit with a meeting with the Deputy President of South Africa, H.E Paul Mashatile. The discussions focused on key areas of partnership, including mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and the establishment of direct flights between the two countries to improve medical travel, trade, and tourism.
She also met with senior officials of the African National Congress (ANC) and attended a session of the party’s National Dialogue Commission.
During the session, Hon. Kiir delivered a message from President Salva Kiir emphasising Pan-Africanism, socioeconomic equality, and continued regional solidarity.
South Africa is an important investment partner for South Sudan in the mining sector. Hon. Kiir’s engagements are expected to continue over the next several days, with further meetings planned with government and business leaders.
