(Juba) – Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lieutenant General Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, held a meeting on Friday with the leadership of the South Sudan Islamic Council to discuss cooperation in areas of social development, peace, and public service delivery.
The meeting, held at the State Government Secretariat in Juba, focused on building a strong working relationship between the Islamic Council and the state government. The discussions emphasized collaboration in sectors such as education, health, and community development, with the goal of promoting peaceful coexistence and shared responsibility.

Governor Mujung thanked the Islamic Council for its continued role in fostering social cohesion and moral guidance. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with religious institutions as key partners in achieving long-term development and peace across the state.
The Governor highlighted the importance of unity among different faith groups and welcomed the Islamic Council’s support in promoting harmony in the diverse communities of Central Equatoria.

Following the meeting, the Secretary General of the South Sudan Islamic Council, Abdallah Baraj, spoke to journalists. He reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to cooperate fully with Governor Mujung’s administration and applauded the recent appointment of the Governor by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Baraj noted that the Islamic Council has maintained a strong relationship with the South Sudan Council of Churches, especially on issues of interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. “We discussed the vital role of the Islamic Council in supporting the new Governor, and emphasized our strong relationship with the South Sudan Council of Churches in advancing interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence,” he said.

He also offered spiritual encouragement to the Governor, advising him to remain guided by religious principles and to seek wisdom and strength through faith. “We encouraged the Governor to remain close to Allah to receive the wisdom and strength needed to govern effectively,” he added.
