
Governor Adil Receives Police Briefing in Juba/PHOTO CREDITS: CESGPU
(JUBA, CENTRAL EQUATORIA) – Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has received a detailed briefing from Lt. Gen. Andrea Martin Hassen, the Assistant Inspector General of Police and Police Commissioner for Central Equatoria State, on recent redeployments and internal transfers within the South Sudan National Police Service.
The meeting focused on familiarising the new Assistant IGP with the state’s leadership structure and ensuring coordinated responses to emerging situations across Central Equatoria. Discussions also covered ways to improve professionalism in the police as they carry out their duties.
The governor and police leadership emphasised the shared responsibility of maintaining law and order in the state, including ongoing efforts to reduce gang activity in urban areas.
In a related briefing, Hon. Robert John Lasu, Commissioner of Lainya County, reported to Governor Adil on key peace and security issues in the county. He outlined plans to relocate Ambororo cattle herders and others back to their areas of origin before the start of the farming season.
Governor Adil directed the commissioner to maintain close cooperation with security forces to sustain peace and stability in the county, assuring full support for local authorities in these efforts.
Separately, the governor announced the establishment of an independent body to revive the Council of Traditional Authority Leaders in Central Equatoria State. A provisional committee has been formed to oversee the election of council members within six months and select delegates for the new council.
The provisional committee includes Mr. Angelo Lado Lino as chairperson, Mr. Joseph Brown as deputy chair, Mrs. Rahma Saaid Farajalla as secretary, and six other members representing local communities and traditional authorities. The committee is required to submit a report to the governor’s office within the six month timeframe.
Governor Adil said the revival of the council aims to strengthen the role of traditional leaders in promoting peace, resolving disputes, and supporting local governance in Central Equatoria State.
