(BOR, JONGLEI) – The Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State, Major General Moses Majok Gatluak Thou, has appointed seven Caretaker Ministers to the state government.
The appointments were made through Gubernatorial Decree No. 07/2026, issued on 6th October 2026.
The Office of the Caretaker Governor reported in October 2026 that the decree was issued under Article 99 (2) (a) of the Transitional Constitution of Jonglei State, 2011, read together with Republican Decree No. RSS/OP/RD-J-243-09/2026.
Wilson Awuol Gajang was appointed Caretaker Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency.
Gatluak Riek Bol was appointed Caretaker Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment.
Advocate Rejoice John Paul Deng was appointed Caretaker Minister of Information and Telecommunication.
Dr David Goi Johnson was appointed Caretaker Minister of Health.
Gordon Koang Bar Malieth was appointed Caretaker Minister of General Education and Instruction.
James Bol Makuei Hoth was appointed Caretaker Minister of Roads, Bridges and Infrastructure.
Veronica Simon Kam was appointed Caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
The appointments took effect immediately from the date the decree was signed.
The decree was issued under the hand and seal of the Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State on 6th October 2026.
In a separate decree issued on 5th October 2026, the Caretaker Governor appointed Wuzir Michael Lia as Technical Advisor for Information and Media for Jonglei State.
Chuol Diu Teny was appointed Caretaker Commissioner for Nyirol County.
James Gatkhor Gatluak was appointed Coordinator for Security Affairs for Jonglei State.
James Chuol Jiek was appointed Coordinator for Traditional Authority and Law Enforcement for Jonglei State.
The Office of the Caretaker Governor reported in October 2026 that the decrees came into force on the date of signature, Monday 5th October 2026, and were issued under the hand and seal of the Caretaker Governor.
The appointments followed the inauguration of the Jonglei State Coordination Office in Juba on Saturday 3rd October 2026.
During the same event, two Caretaker County Commissioners were sworn in. Chol Gatluak Deng was sworn in as Caretaker Commissioner of Duk County, and James Magok Mabiei as Caretaker Commissioner of Twic East County.
In his address, Governor Moses Majok congratulated the new commissioners and restated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, stability and effective service delivery across Jonglei State.
He called on the new commissioners to embrace servant leadership, serve all people with humility, fairness and dedication, and to promote unity, calm and peaceful coexistence among communities as the foundation for development.
He said the newly inaugurated Coordination Office would strengthen coordination between the state and national government and improve service delivery to the people of Jonglei State and in Juba.
The Office of the Caretaker Governor reported in October 2026 that the event was witnessed by senior national and state government officials, advisors, members of the state security committee, cultural leaders, women leaders, youth leaders, chiefs and members of the public.
