(Juba) – The President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), Lt. Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, held a key meeting on Monday with the newly appointed members of the SSFF Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee. The gathering marked the beginning of the Federation’s formal preparations for its upcoming General Elections.
The session took place at the SSFF Headquarters in Juba and included senior football officials such as Mr. Wiyual Lam, Chairman of the Organizing Committee; Mr. Albino Kuek, SSFF Spokesperson; Mr. Victor Lawrence Lual, Secretary General and Mr. George Abraham, Chairman of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.
The meeting served as an official introduction and familiarization between the Federation’s leadership and the two newly constituted election bodies. The Electoral Committee is chaired by Advocate Arnes Paulo Marino Lako, while the Electoral Appeals Committee is chaired by Advocate Tong Majok Athian.
President Maduot, who also serves as the President of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), welcomed the appointees and highlighted their crucial responsibility in ensuring a fair and credible electoral process.
He emphasized that integrity, transparency, and independence will be the guiding principles for the committees’ work ahead of the elections.
“These committees play a vital role in safeguarding the democratic process within our football governance,” President Maduot stated. “We must build trust through fair elections and uphold the standards that South Sudanese football deserves.”
In a further step toward readiness, the SSFF announced that an induction workshop will be held for the newly appointed committee members on 27 June 2025. The workshop will serve as a capacity building session to ensure that all members understand their roles, the electoral guidelines, and the legal framework governing the election process.
The official date of the SSFF General Elections has not yet been confirmed, but Federation officials said it will be announced in the coming days.
The Federation’s leadership has called on all stakeholders, including clubs, regional associations, and fans, to support a peaceful and transparent process that prioritizes the interests of football and national unity.
