Tax Authority Sets October 15 Deadline for Outstanding Payments

(JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN) – The South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) has given taxpayers until 15th October 2026 to file their monthly and quarterly returns and clear all outstanding tax liabilities.

In a notice issued on 7th October, the authority said the deadline covers personal income tax withholdings on wages and salaries, rental properties, government contracts, technical fees, dividend payments and royalties, as well as lottery and gaming winnings.

Manufacturing companies, hotels, bars and restaurant services, financial institutions, travel and tour agencies, and telecommunication services have also been directed to file and pay sales and excise taxes by the same date.

Taxpayers who have not filed or paid taxes from previous periods must do so immediately, including Business Profit Tax, Personal Income Tax, and Presumptive Income Tax for entrepreneurial sole proprietors, along with other outstanding liabilities.

Those with arrears recorded in the domestic Tax Information System (DTIS) have been advised to work with the arrears management committee and make payments through designated commercial banks.

Businesses have also been reminded to continue filing and paying their current tax obligations online.

The notice warned that unregistered businesses operating without a Tax Identification Number (TIN) are operating illegally and could face penalties under the Taxation Act 2009 as amended.

“It is a criminal offence under sections 113 and 114 (a), (b) of the Taxation Act 2009, as amended. Unregistered businesses must register for a TIN immediately. Once registered, you must file and pay all outstanding tax obligations right away,” said Angelo Aguot Deng, Acting Commissioner for the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, in the notice.

Taxpayers have also been asked to update their contact information on the e-tax system.

The authority said paying tax on time is vital for national development and economic stability.
