Badagbu Appoints Commissioners for Ten Counties

(YAMBIO) – The Caretaker Governor of Western Equatoria State, Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, has appointed ten caretaker county commissioners to oversee the administration of the state’s ten counties.

The appointments were made through State Decree No. 01/2026, signed by Governor Rimbasa on Sunday, 4th October 2026 at the State Secretariat headquarters in Yambio.

The decree states that the appointments were made under powers conferred by Republican Decree No. 33/2026, dated 22nd September 2026, and in line with Article 99 (2) (a) of the Transitional Constitution of Western Equatoria State, 2011, as amended in 2015.

The appointed caretaker commissioners are Modi Enosa Mbaraza for Yambio County, Tito Amos Nganzi for Ibba County, James Mupaya Kparivuru for Tambura County, Daniel Owudada Gnandi for Maridi County, Stephen Alipayo Clement for Mvolo County, Matthew Daite Bakiet for Mundri East County, Charles January Clement for Mundri West County, Henry Agia Zinaro for Ezo County, Robert Raphael Mandri for Nzara County, and Charles Gambori for Nagero County.

The decree states that the appointments take effect from the date of their signing.

The appointments follow recent changes to the state’s administration after President Salva Kiir Mayardit appointed a caretaker leadership for Western Equatoria State.

Governor Badagbu was sworn into office on 23rd September 2026 at the Presidential Palace in Juba, following his appointment by President Kiir.

President Kiir appointed Badagbu as caretaker governor after dissolving the transitional government and state governments across the country on 22nd September 2026.

Badagbu will lead Western Equatoria during the caretaker period as South Sudan prepares for general elections scheduled for 22nd December 2026.

The decree was signed and stamped by the Office of the Governor of Western Equatoria State on 4th October 2026.
