President Kiir Appoints New Press Secretary

(JUBA) – The Office of the President has announced the appointment of a new Press Secretary in a republican decree issued on 23 February 2026.

In a press release dated 23 February 2026, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs said President Salva Kiir Mayardit had appointed Ms Arek Aldo Ajou Deng as Press Secretary in the Office of the President.

The appointment was made under Republican Decree No. 65 2026 and takes effect immediately, according to the statement.

The release said the President conveyed his best wishes to Ms Arek Aldo Ajou Deng as she assumes her new role.

The announcement was issued on behalf of the President by Africano Mande Gedima, Minister of Presidential Affairs, in Juba.

The Office of the President said the appointment forms part of ongoing administrative arrangements within the government of South Sudan.
