ECU Coffee Project Transforming Students Through Faith and Agriculture

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Emmanuel Christian University (ECU) says its growing coffee project is serving as more than an agricultural venture, providing students with practical skills, leadership training and opportunities for community transformation.

The university describes the ECU Coffee initiative as a “living classroom” where students gain hands-on experience in stewardship, entrepreneurship, and servant leadership while integrating academic learning with Christian values.

According to the institution, every coffee tree planted on the farm reflects ECU’s vision of creating “a transformed people with academic excellence rooted in the Word and glorifying God.”

The University’s vice Chancellor Daniel Ohide said the project is helping bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical application by exposing students to sustainable agricultural practices and business management skills that can contribute to economic development in South Sudan.

Beyond its educational value, the coffee plantation is expected to support the university’s long-term growth while creating opportunities for surrounding communities through agriculture and skills development.

ECU noted that the initiative aligns with its commitment to empowering future leaders who can positively impact society through faith-based service and professional excellence.

The university also expressed appreciation to its partners and supporters, acknowledging their contributions to the project’s development and success.
