(GOLI, YEI COUNTY) – Emmanuel Christian University has honoured Hon Dr Manas Kogo during a thanksgiving prayer ceremony at Goli Farm, where he served as the Guest of Honour and officially launched the Goli Coffee Harvest.
The event brought together students, teachers, local authorities, community members and development partners to celebrate a project that aims not only at academic improvement but also at practical development, community empowerment and hope for young people in South Sudan.
In his remarks, Dr Kogo praised the University for what he described as strong and purposeful leadership. He said Emmanuel Christian University has shown a clear record of turning ideas into action by linking education with real work, transforming classrooms into spaces for innovation, and forming partnerships that bring benefits to surrounding communities.
He said the investment made at Goli Farm shows that learning does not take place only inside lecture rooms, but also in fields and communities where society faces daily challenges.
Dr Kogo also noted the cooperation between the University and the people of Goli. He said this teamwork is important for any community that seeks lasting progress.
He encouraged the University leadership, together with young people, to continue supporting this type of unity, which he said reflects responsibility, humility, and a shared desire for development.
He added that in a country working hard to find new roads to prosperity, Emmanuel Christian University stands out as a local institution that does not only speak about development, but takes steps to build it.
Those who attended said the launch of the Goli Coffee Harvest represents more than the start of a farming season. It is seen as part of a wider approach to leadership and education, where students and community members learn how to grow food, create jobs and support local families. The ceremony also served as a reminder that development grows when leaders put service ahead of personal gain.
Emmanuel Christian University says its message remains clear. Leadership is not about position or praise, but about building hope and solving real needs. The University says the green fields of Goli Farm are proof that vision and action can produce harvests that support families, strengthen communities and inspire the nation.
The event ended with renewed encouragement for students, staff and the community to continue working together for a stronger future.
