Power Outage Hits Multiple Areas After Billboard Collapse in Juba

(JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN) – A power outage has affected several areas of Juba after strong winds caused a large billboard structure to collapse onto a medium voltage line, Juba Electric Distribution Company said in October 2026.

The company, known as JEDCO, said the fallen billboard disrupted electricity supply to Juba Town (partial), Hai Jalaba, Hai Gabat, Juba Nabari, Tongpiny (partial), Gudele All, Gurei, Hai Referendum, Hai Yaba Paul, Hai Eden, Joppa, Munuki Blocks A, B and C, Mia Saba and Hai Mangateen.

JEDCO said its technical team is working to repair the damage and restore power.

Electricity supply is expected to be restored by the morning of 5th October 2026.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding,” JEDCO said.

JEDCO is the only electricity service provider in Juba. It is a public private partnership company that brings together EZRA Construction and Development Group and the South Sudan Electricity Corporation.

The company is based in the Hai Mouna Residential Area, near Mauna Medical Complex in Juba.

Customers can reach JEDCO’s emergency and fault line on 319.
