JEDCO Warns of Scheduled Power Interruptions in Juba/PHOTO CREDITS: JEDCO
(JUBA CITY) – The Juba Electricity Distribution Company, widely known as JEDCO, has announced a temporary power rationing programme across the capital city of South Sudan.
This scheduled disruption follows the commencement of a major maintenance overhaul at the primary power generation plant. The technical exercise is expected to last for three weeks, running from 8 June until 28 June 2026.
During this timeframe, commercial and residential consumers in various parts of Juba will experience planned electricity supply interruptions during peak evening hours.
The utility firm stated that the comprehensive maintenance work is essential to improve the long term reliability and efficiency of electricity generation in the region. Because of the technical overhaul, the overall generation capacity of the plant will be significantly reduced.
To manage the remaining available supply in an equitable manner, JEDCO has established a rotating load shedding schedule. The daily power cuts are fixed between 5:00 PM and 12:00 AM, meaning affected areas will experience seven hours of continuous outages on their scheduled days.
The power rationing plan splits the capital into distinct zones managed through specific electricity feeders to ensure an orderly distribution of power. JEDCO has provided a structured timetable detailing which locations will face power cuts on specific dates throughout the three week maintenance window.
