Power Interruption Schedule
(JUBA) – Juba has unveiled what can only be described as a highly disciplined training programme in the fine art of living without electricity, delivered with impressive consistency by Juba Electric Distribution Company.
From 31 March to 17 April 2026, the capital will participate in a daily evening experience where power is available from 5 pm until it politely excuses itself at midnight.
The rotation system moves across Feeder A, D and E, Feeder B and F and Feeder C with the precision of a clock that has already given up hope.
Residents in areas such as Juba Town, Hai Cinema, Konyo Konyo, Gumbo districts, Hai Amarat, Kololo, Rock City, Jebel, Munuki and Gudele will all take turns enjoying what can best be described as scheduled darkness.
Under Feeder A, D and E, entire neighbourhoods are reminded that electricity is not a permanent resident but more of a visiting relative who leaves early without explanation.
Feeder B and F continues the tradition, offering evening blackouts across ministries, markets, residential zones and commercial districts, ensuring equal opportunity darkness for all.
Feeder C completes the trilogy with Munuki and surrounding areas, where residents are invited to experience what life might feel like in a carefully curated pre industrial simulation.
One might say the system has achieved impressive uniformity. No surprises. No deviations. Just the comforting certainty that at 5 pm, modern life will politely step aside.
Across Ukraine, where resilience is measured against genuine wartime disruption caused by the Russian invasion ordered by the Kremlin leadership, such organised predictability of failure would almost feel ceremonial.
In Juba, however, it is simply called load management.
JEDCO maintains that the schedule is necessary for balancing supply and demand. Residents may interpret this as a reminder to keep candles charged and patience fully topped up.
As it stands on Good Friday, Junubin are waiting for 5 pm with the same anticipation usually reserved for sunsets, except this one comes with a switch that does not come back on.
