New Kanjoro Bridge Earns Praise from Residents

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – Residents of Kanjoro and New Site neighborhoods in Yei River County have commended Point Investment Construction Company for the quality of work on the newly completed Kanjoro Bridge, a key link connecting the communities to Yei town.

The bridge, which also serves as an important route to the residence of President Salva Kiir in Yei, replaces a damaged crossing that had caused movement difficulties for more than a decade after its culverts were washed away.

Faced with years of challenges, local residents mobilised resources and worked with local authorities and Point Investment Construction Company to undertake the project aimed at easing transportation and improving access to essential services.

According to the community committee overseeing the project, led by Johnson Poru Hillary, construction work has been completed and the bridge is currently undergoing the final curing process before its official reopening in the first week of October.

Residents have welcomed the development, describing the bridge as a major improvement for the area.

Moses Taban, a resident of Kanjoro, praised the engineers led by Lemi William for delivering what he described as one of the best bridge projects in the area.

“We are very happy because our own brother engineer William Lemi and his team have done a wonderful job on this bridge. It is one of the best bridges constructed by the company in Yei,” he said.

Taban also called on county, state and national authorities to support local construction companies, saying they have demonstrated their ability to deliver quality infrastructure projects.

Another resident, Jackline Rose, said the bridge would significantly improve access to markets, health facilities and schools.

“This stream had greatly affected our movement. It was difficult to reach the market, health centres and for children to go to school. With the completion of the construction project, we are grateful to Point Investment Company and pray that God continues to bless them,” she said.

Santino Mabior a resident of New Site echoed similar sentiments, welcoming the completion of the project and calling for its reopening to the public.

“We are happy because the bridge has been completed after a long period of suffering. I am sure vehicles and motorcycles can now move without fear. I want to appreciate Point Investment for the good work they have done,” he said.

Earlier, Point Investment Managing Director William Lemi posted on his Facebook page that the bridge construction had been completed and would be reopened for public use after a mandatory curing period of 28 days.

The project is expected to improve transport, trade and access to social services for thousands of residents in Kanjoro, New Site and surrounding communities.
