Morobo County Reaffirms Support for Health Scholarship Students

(JUBA/MOROBO) – The caretaker Commissioner of Morobo County in Central Equatoria State, Isaac Moro Johnson, has begun his official duties by visiting health students from the county who are studying in Juba under a local government scholarship programme.

The visits took place on 6th October 2026 at the Juba Institute of Health Sciences and the Juba College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The commissioner met with the administrations of both institutions to discuss the situation of Morobo County students receiving scholarships from the county government.

Speaking to student representatives at the institutes, Isaac Moro assured them that their studies would continue and that the new county leadership would work to raise resources to clear outstanding tuition arrears.

The commissioner was accompanied by Daniel Juma Essien, deputy youth coordinator for Morobo youths based in Juba, along with other young people from the county.

Morobo County has for several years provided scholarships to students in the health sector in an effort to strengthen the county’s human resources. The county faces a shortage of health professionals.

Despite limited resources and low revenue collections, the county has continued to offer bursaries to science students each year.

The scholarship visits come days after Isaac Moro Johnson was sworn in as caretaker commissioner on 2nd October 2026, ahead of his formal reception at Morobo County headquarters.

He previously served as security coordinator for Morobo County before his appointment on 1st October 2026. He has been entrusted with leading the county during the period before the general elections scheduled for 22nd December.

Counties in Central Equatoria State have been operating under executive directors for nearly nine days following the dissolution of the government on 22nd September 2026.
