(MOROBO COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Morobo County, Charles Data Bullen, met with leaders from the Morobo Students Association at the Yei Teachers Training College on Monday.
The meeting took place at the county office to find ways to help students finish their certificate and diploma courses.
The main focus of the talk was to build a better relationship between the county and the students to solve problems that make studying difficult.
The student leaders explained that many people are struggling to pay for the materials they need for their teaching practice.
Kulimba Seme, who is the leader of the student team and the college Guild President, thanked the Commissioner for the meeting. He said that without help from the county government, some students might not be able to finish this important part of their teacher training.
Lona Gune, the Chairperson of the Association, spoke to the students and told them to work harder. She said students should match the help from the government by staying focused on their studies and their future jobs.
Commissioner Data told the group that the county wants to put money into education because it is the base for future growth. He promised that Morobo County will give a one off supply of the necessary materials for teaching practice.
He also promised to provide 1,000,000 South Sudanese Pounds, which is worth 140.85 US Dollars, at the start of every semester to help the students.
The Commissioner said that while the county looks for more resources to help train teachers, parents and students must also help when they can. He said that making sure future teachers are ready for their jobs is a responsibility that everyone shares.
Both the students and the county leaders said the new agreement is a big step toward making life better for students from Morobo who are studying in Yei.
