Yei County Mourns Senior Administrator Deaths

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The people of Greater Yei are mourning the death of two senior local government officials, a development that has brought sadness to the community and county administration.

Apollo Gordon, a senior local administrator in Yei, passed away on the same day as Raida Faida, the Deputy Director of Yei Town Payam. Local authorities confirmed the deaths and described the loss as a heavy blow to public service in the area.

The late Apollo Gordon had served in several leadership roles during his public service career. He previously served as the Commissioner of Kajokeji County during the period of the thirty two states, where he was involved in county administration and local governance.

The Commissioner of Yei River County, together with senior county officials, joined family members, friends and residents at the home of the late Apollo Gordon in the Hai Gabart area of Yei town. The visit was part of official efforts to stand with the bereaved families during the period of mourning.

County officials expressed their condolences and recognised the contributions made by both leaders to local administration and community service. They said the deaths come at a time when experienced leadership remains important for stability and service delivery in South Sudan.

Residents in Yei described the two officials as committed public servants who worked closely with communities. Many said their passing would be felt across the county, particularly within local government structures.

The Office of the Commissioner of Yei River County said further arrangements and official programmes related to the mourning would be communicated in due course, as the county joins families and colleagues in honouring the lives of the late officials.
