(MOROBO, SOUTH SUDAN) – A 24-year-old Ugandan citizen has been released from police custody in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State on Friday after being detained for one week.
The youth, identified as Loyita Cosmas Kokole, a resident of Yibongo Village in Koboko Municipality, Uganda, was arrested seven days prior in the Acav area by local security operatives on suspicion of illicit activity.
Following a police investigation, authorities found Kokole not guilty of any criminal offense. Investigators determined that his behavior was instead the result of being under the influence of drugs.
Morobo County Commissioner Hon. Joseph Mawa Okuba used the opportunity to caution Kokole and local youth against the dangers of substance abuse.
“Desist from drug abuse and instead utilize your youthful age to build yourselves and contribute to national growth,” Commissioner Okuba urged.
The Commissioner praised the local police force for exercising professionalism during the investigation and ensuring a fair process.
According to the Morobo County Press Unit, Kokole has been repatriated to Koboko District to be safely reunited with his family.
