(LAINYA COUNTY) – Detained Youths Released in Move to Promote Community Harmony
Lainya County Commissioner, Hon. Robert Lasu, has announced the release of several youths who were recently detained in Wonduruba, Lainya County, Central Equatoria State. The youths returned home on 9th December 2025 in good health and without any charges.
The release is seen as a positive step toward reconciliation and community unity. Commissioner Lasu reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and cooperation in resolving issues affecting young people and the wider community.
“Today is a testament to our commitment to justice and the well being of our young people. We want an environment where our youth can grow without fear of unjust detention,” Commissioner Lasu said.
Families and community members welcomed the youths back with cheers and support.
Commissioner Lasu also emphasised that his office remains committed to upholding the law while supporting community welfare.
He noted that efforts would continue to provide youth with opportunities and guidance, reducing the likelihood of future detentions.
