(VERTET COUNTY) – European Ambassadors Visit South Sudan’s Boma and Badingilo National Parks
Boma and Badingilo National Parks in South Sudan welcomed four European Ambassadors over the weekend, providing an opportunity to showcase the country’s conservation and eco-tourism efforts. The delegation included representatives from the European Union, France, the Netherlands and Germany.
During their visit, the Ambassadors were introduced to the ongoing initiatives led by African Parks to protect South Sudan’s wildlife and landscapes.
Officials highlighted the work being done to ensure sustainable management of natural resources while supporting local communities living around the parks.
The delegation also had the chance to meet and share a meal with the Vertet County Commissioner, who praised African Parks for its partnership in promoting both conservation and community development.
The Commissioner emphasised the positive impact of these collaborations on local livelihoods and the environment.
African Parks’ teams provided guided tours of the parks, demonstrating their efforts to maintain biodiversity, protect endangered species and develop eco-tourism opportunities that can generate income for nearby communities.
According to African Parks, the visit underlined the importance of international support and partnerships in safeguarding South Sudan’s natural heritage for future generations:
“The event further showcased the role of conservation in fostering economic development and environmental stewardship, aligning with broader national goals to protect South Sudan’s unique ecosystems while engaging communities in sustainable practices.”
