(MOROBO) – Youth in Morobo County have received a donation of three new original footballs and cash from the county commissioner to support an independence tournament, as local leaders called for cooperation between young people and the government.
The handover took place on Friday morning. The donation was made by Commissioner Joseph Mawa John to the chairperson of the Morobo County Youth Association, Mr December.
The tournament is being organised by the Morobo Football Association and the Morobo County Youth Association, with support from the community and well wishers.
Addressing the youth, the commissioner urged young people to maintain cooperation with the government, stating that they are the backbone of Morobo County and the nation at large.
Mr December thanked the commissioner for what he described as his consistent commitment to standing with youth activities. He promised to work towards the county government’s mission of advocating for unity of purpose for the people of Morobo.
The amount of cash donated was not disclosed.

In a separate development reported earlier by Access Radio, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo have moved to ease border tensions with the reopening of the Karagba crossing point in Morobo County after the release of two remaining Congolese nationals held by security forces.
