Dr Loku Halts Terekeka Disability Land Talks for Further Review/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press
(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – A land dispute involving three disability organisations in Terekeka County has been temporarily adjourned to allow for a more detailed review of documents and claims.
The Office of the County Commissioner announced on Thursday that initial mediation proceedings had been paused. The decision came after early discussions revealed the need for additional paperwork and a clearer framework to address the concerns raised by the respective groups.
Dr Loku, the Commissioner, stated that the local government remains fully committed to mediating the dispute impartially. He said the goal is to guarantee that all voices are heard and that any final land allocation honours the rights of the disability community.
“Our priority is to foster a fair and constructive dialogue that leads to an equitable outcome for all parties involved,” said Dr Loku. “While we had hoped to conclude discussions today, pausing the meeting allows us to gather critical data and prevents any escalations. We are dedicated to ensuring a transparent process that respects the dignity and needs of all our citizens with disabilities.”
Further details regarding the rescheduled date and venue were not immediately announced.
