(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Terekeka County, Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu, has met leaders and residents from Mangalla and Gemeiza Payams to assess a border dispute between the two areas.
The meeting took place in Terekeka on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, as part of efforts by local authorities to prevent tensions and maintain stability in Central Equatoria State and across South Sudan.
During the meeting, the Commissioner reviewed the disputed boundary and listened to concerns raised by community representatives from both payams. He said the government was closely following the situation to ensure it does not affect peace and social relations.
Dr Lodu urged residents to remain calm and avoid actions that could lead to conflict while official assessments and consultations continue. He said the county administration was committed to handling the matter through lawful and peaceful means.
He assured the communities that the issue would be resolved through administrative procedures and dialogue. He stressed that the county government would work with traditional leaders, youth groups, and women representatives to reach a fair and lasting solution.
The Commissioner said clear boundaries were important for service delivery, land use, and local development. He added that resolving disputes peacefully would support economic activity and community cooperation.
Local leaders welcomed the engagement and expressed hope that the government process would bring clarity and strengthen unity between the two payams.
