Women’s Group CORWADO Reviews Programme Quality in Magwi

(JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN) – The Consortium of Rural Women for Agribusiness Development Organization, or CORWADO, held a board review meeting in Juba on 4th October 2026.

The meeting brought together the board, leadership and senior management team to review strategy, governance, programme performance and future direction.

A main focus was the adoption of CORWADO’s programme strategy and core thematic outcomes, to keep its work in step with changing humanitarian, development, economic, climate and resilience needs in South Sudan.

Discussions confirmed CORWADO’s role as a women led, locally rooted national organisation working across the humanitarian, development and peace sectors.

The board reviewed programme results, challenges, lessons learned, programme quality and geographical priorities, with attention on turning strategy into measurable results for women, youth, farmers and vulnerable communities.

The meeting also examined CORWADO’s financial position and accountability systems, focusing on financial oversight, budget performance, internal controls, compliance, risk management, procurement and donor accountability.

The board and management reviewed fundraising, the partnership pipeline, donor engagement and ways to widen CORWADO’s funding base. Talks stressed moving beyond chance based fundraising towards a more strategic approach.

Governance and institutional capacity were also reviewed, including board oversight, management accountability, coordination between departments, human resource capacity, safeguarding and institutional risk management.

The meeting came two days after CORWADO’s senior leadership team, led by the Executive Director, visited the Magwi Field Office in Eastern Equatoria State.

The team met communities involved in the READ Project, including producer groups, cooperatives, village savings and loan associations, farmers, women and youth groups.

They spoke directly with community members to understand their experiences, progress, priorities and new challenges, and gathered feedback on how relevant and effective CORWADO supported work has been.

The team also met Magwi Field Office staff and reviewed programme progress, operational priorities, coordination arrangements, results and challenges.

Talks stressed programme quality, accountability to communities, effective resource management, teamwork, documentation and timely delivery of planned activities.

The visit also strengthened engagement with local authorities, community leaders and other project stakeholders.

CORWADO is headquartered in Juba and operates in Eastern Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile, among other states.

Radio Tamazuj reported in May 2026 that Magwi County Commissioner Lam Francis Gabriel urged farmers to move from subsistence farming to commercial production.

CORWADO was founded in 2022 and is registered with the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.
