MTN, Government Discuss Reopening of MoMo Services

(JUBA) – South Sudan’s Caretaker Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya, has held a virtual meeting with senior management of telecommunications company MTN to discuss the reopening of Mobile Money (MoMo) transactions, connectivity challenges and digital banking services.

During the meeting, Dr. Labanya acknowledged MTN’s crucial role in supporting citizens and businesses across the country through telecommunications and financial services.

The Minister assured MTN management that the government would urgently address challenges affecting the company’s operations, working closely with all relevant institutions to find lasting solutions.

The discussions focused on restoring Mobile Money services and strengthening digital connectivity, measures expected to improve access to financial transactions and support business activities nationwide.

The meeting comes amid growing demand for reliable digital and mobile banking services to facilitate trade, commerce and financial inclusion across South Sudan.
