The World Food Programme (WFP) is inviting applications for the position of Programme Policy Officer, Head of Smallholder Agriculture Market Support (SAMS) based in Juba, South Sudan. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation and supports communities affected by conflict, climate change and economic shocks.
This role provides strategic leadership for programmes that strengthen smallholder agriculture, food systems and market access across South Sudan.

Key Responsibilities
-
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the SAMS programme in South Sudan
-
Strengthen climate resilient agriculture, reduce post harvest losses and support farmer organisations
-
Integrate SAMS with nutrition, school feeding, asset creation, resilience and emergency programmes
-
Manage budgets, work plans and donor reporting
-
Lead resource mobilisation and proposal development

Supervise SAMS staff and support field offices

Develop standard operating procedures and technical guidance

Coordinate with government, UN agencies, partners, private sector and financial institutions
Required Qualifications and Experience
-
Advanced university degree in agriculture, economics, rural development, international development or a related field

Minimum of five years relevant postgraduate experience, or seven years with a first degree
-
Strong experience in programme leadership, coordination and partnership building
-
Proven skills in planning, reporting, communication and team management
-
Working knowledge of English
