Job Vacancy: Park Tech Officer – African Parks Network, Badingilo National Park, South SudanContract Type: One-year renewable contract
Location: Badingilo National Park Headquarters, with travel to head office in Juba

Organisation Overview:
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation responsible for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. Currently, African Parks manages 22 national parks and protected areas across 12 countries, covering over 20 million hectares. In August 2022, African Parks signed a 10-year management agreement with South Sudan’s Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism to restore and develop Boma and Badingilo National Parks.
Job Overview:
The Park Tech Officer will report to the Field Operations Manager and will oversee all IT and communication systems across the parks and Juba head office. This includes maintaining the internet backbone, VHF radio systems, solar installations, IP cameras, LAN, WiFi, printers, routers, and local servers.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure all IT and communication equipment is fully operational at all times.

Set up, maintain, and manage end-user devices and equipment.

Monitor radio networks, repeaters, programming, and software.

Maintain LoRa networks, gateways, connected devices, and servers.

Manage solar power and security camera systems.

Oversee Field GPS and satellite emergency communications.

Support data collection devices (rugged phones, trackers, camera traps).

Manage Earth Ranger monitoring, sensor integration, and ArcGIS.

Implement anti-virus updates, Windows updates, server support, and data backup.

Follow training manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Conservation, or relevant field.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in network troubleshooting and IT support for conservation.

Knowledge of digital radio systems (preferably Motorola) and GIS.

Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Willingness to live in remote areas, physically fit, and comfortable with heights and wildlife.
