(JUBA) The Ministry of Finance and Planning has launched a three-week training on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) in Juba on Monday.
The program aims to equip government accountants with skills to strengthen monitoring systems, develop standard procedures, and improve accountability in public spending. Participants are also expected to create practical action plans to support ongoing reforms.
Speaking at the opening, Deputy Finance Minister Thok Turuk Thok urged trainees to fully engage with facilitators and build their professional capacity, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning.
Technical Advisor Simon Kiman reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing accountability and improving government programme performance through skills development.
Officials from the Government Accountancy Training Centre and the Directorate of Tax Revenue also highlighted the need to promote accountability across all government institutions.
The training is expected to play a key role in strengthening transparency and efficiency in public financial management.
