(JUBA) – South Sudan’s Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services (MoICTPS) has renewed its commitment to move government services onto digital platforms, aiming to improve access to public services and strengthen communication systems across the country.
Senior officials said the plan focuses on expanding digital services for citizens, with discussions held at Telecom House in Gumbo on ways to improve delivery and efficiency. The meeting brought together ministry leaders and technical directors as part of regular reviews of progress in the sector.
Officials said the shift to digital systems is intended to support service delivery, innovation and economic activity, as South Sudan continues to develop its ICT infrastructure.
The ministry leadership later said technology would play a central role in improving access to information and connecting communities, especially in areas where services remain limited.
The meeting followed wider engagement by the ministry to build partnerships and support capacity development in the sector.
Earlier in April, the ministry held talks with India’s ambassador designate in Juba on expanding cooperation in ICT and broadcasting. Both sides discussed professional exchanges and stronger ties between South Sudan and India in technology related fields.
The ministry said such cooperation could help strengthen technical capacity and support the country’s digital transition.
In a separate development, South Sudanese student leaders in Morocco met the ICT minister during a technology conference in Rabat. The students welcomed ongoing education links between South Sudan and Morocco, particularly scholarship programmes.
Student representatives also raised concerns about financial support, saying some needs are not covered under existing scholarship arrangements. The minister said these concerns would be shared with the Ministry of Higher Education.
