(JUBA) – Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has held his first expanded cabinet briefing in Juba, where he set out new priorities for Central Equatoria State with a focus on peace, security and improved public services.
During the meeting on Thursday, the Governor called on all ministers to work together and maintain cooperation with the parties that signed the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan. He said close coordination was necessary to support stability and lasting peace across the state.
Governor Adil also directed financial institutions in Central Equatoria to strengthen policy measures that can support economic stability and growth. According to officials, the state leadership wants all public bodies to increase efficiency and ensure proper use of resources.
Speaking to the press after the session, State Minister of Information and Communication Nyarsuk Patrick outlined the main areas the Governor wants to prioritise. These include peace and security, unity among communities, improvements to internal roads and the general upgrade and beautification of Juba City to reach acceptable urban standards.
The Minister said the Governor also emphasised support for agriculture through cooperative societies, noting that local food production remains important for the state’s economy. He said the Governor assured ministers that he would work with state institutions to deliver development projects in a timely manner.
Nyarsuk added that Governor Adil appealed to all political and community actors, including groups whose members previously took up arms, to recommit themselves to peace for the sake of development and stability in Central Equatoria.
