(JUBA COUNTY) – The State Advisor on Security and Peace, Hon. Angelo Daya, has urged residents of Joppa Two to avoid illegal land activities that recently sparked unrest in the area.
Hon. Daya warned those claiming to be chiefs and marking land illegally that they face arrest and prosecution.
He stressed that no land demarcation is officially authorised anywhere in Central Equatoria State and called on the public to cooperate with authorities to maintain peace.
Lt. General Andrea Martin Hassen, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Central Equatoria Commissioner, confirmed that security forces have restored order in Joppa Two. He said the situation is now calm and under control.
Juba County Commissioner, Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, dismissed recent SPLM/A-IO claims about the incident as false. He said the unrest was caused by land grabbers, which led to two deaths and injuries to others.
Authorities have urged communities to report illegal land activities promptly to prevent further violence.
