(JUBA) – Electricity supply has been fully restored to all areas affected by Saturday’s power outage on Feeder C, the Juba Electric Distribution Company, JEDCO, said on Monday.
The outage was caused by a large billboard structure collapsing onto a medium voltage line during strong winds, JEDCO said in an earlier notice.
Power was cut to Juba Town (partial), Hai Jalaba, Hai Gabat, Juba Nabari, Tongpiny (partial), Gudele All, Gurei, Hai Referendum, Hai Yaba Paul, Hai Eden, Joppa, Munuki Blocks A, B and C, Mia Saba and Hai Mangateen.
Technical teams worked through the weekend to repair the damaged line and bring it back into service, the company said.
“We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding during this time,” JEDCO said in a statement.
The restoration ends a disruption that began when strong winds brought down the billboard onto the medium voltage network.
Customers still experiencing supply problems in their areas have been asked to report them to the company’s emergency and fault line on 319.
The outage occurred as Juba remains under temporary power rationing from 15th September to 15th October 2026 due to a major overhaul of the power plant.
Under the rationing schedule for the week of 1st to 8th October, feeders face daily outages from 5pm to midnight. Customers have been advised to plan activities and charge essential devices in advance.
JEDCO is the sole electricity provider in Juba and operates as a public private partnership between EZRA Construction and Development Group and the South Sudan Electricity Corporation.
