(Nairobi) – The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Nairobi has announced new guidelines for members of the public and South Sudanese community organisations seeking to meet His Excellency Ambassador Anthony Kon, Head of Mission.
The updated procedures are designed to streamline appointments and improve how the embassy engages with South Sudanese nationals in Kenya.
According to the embassy’s announcement, meetings with the Ambassador will now be scheduled based on category, with different days and times allocated for community leaders, student representatives and the general public.
Community organisation leaders and student representatives may request meetings from Monday to Thursday, between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM. However, these meetings must be arranged through the Consular Section or the Education Attaché.
These departments will address most issues and escalate only those needing the Ambassador’s direct attention. Written referrals must be submitted at least one day in advance for review and scheduling by the Ambassador’s Office.
For the general public, meetings will take place every Friday, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. These sessions will be handled on a first come, first served basis, and each visitor will be given a slot of 10 to 15 minutes.
Advance registration is required at the reception, and a list of registered visitors will be reviewed and approved by the Ambassador’s Office.
The embassy has made it clear that walk-in meetings will not be accepted under any circumstances. The policy is intended to ensure orderly communication and more effective use of the Ambassador’s time while maintaining access to the South Sudanese community in Kenya.
The embassy says that these adjustments will allow for better coordination and help address the needs of South Sudanese citizens living in Kenya more efficiently.
Community members have been encouraged to comply with the new procedures and maintain close communication with the embassy’s consular and education sections when seeking assistance or arranging meetings.
