(JUBA) – The Bank of South Sudan has published its official foreign exchange rates for Monday, 11 August 2025, showing marginal movements in the value of the South Sudanese Pound (SSP) against major international currencies when compared to the closing figures from Friday, 8 August 2025.
The official US dollar selling rate opened this week at SSP 4,606.6531 per dollar (approximately USD 1 = SSP 4,606.65), compared to SSP 4,599.1660 at Friday’s close. This represents a slight weakening of the pound by about SSP 7.49 per dollar. On the buying side, the rate shifted from SSP 4,463.2300 to SSP 4,470.4959.
The euro saw a mild decline, with the selling rate moving from SSP 5,374.1254 to SSP 5,358.9196, while the buying rate eased from SSP 5,214.3916 to SSP 5,200.0808.
In contrast, the British pound sterling strengthened slightly, with the selling rate increasing from SSP 6,149.0849 to SSP 6,189.4992, and the buying rate rising from SSP 5,966.4459 to SSP 6,005.6642.
The Kenyan shilling held steady, inching up from SSP 35.6524 to SSP 35.6690 in selling, and from SSP 34.4917 to SSP 34.5612 in buying. The Ugandan shilling also registered minor gains, moving from SSP 1.2901 to SSP 1.2929 in selling.

These figures reflect the official rates used for government and formal sector transactions. They serve as a benchmark for the economy but may differ significantly from parallel market rates, which are typically higher in South Sudan.
