(JUBA) – Authorities in Central Equatoria State have held discussions with university leaders on strengthening cooperation in higher education and supporting academic development in South Sudan.
The talks focused on possible areas of collaboration between the state government and Upper Nile University, including the option of returning the institution to its original location.
Officials said cooperation between public authorities and universities is important to expand access to education and strengthen research and training for national development.
The meeting followed a courtesy visit by the Vice Chancellor of Upper Nile University, Professor Mamour Choul Turuk, who also congratulated state authorities on recent leadership developments.
State officials said universities play a key role in preparing skilled citizens and supporting social and economic progress in South Sudan.
Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony expressed support for closer cooperation with the university and said his administration remains committed to advancing education across Central Equatoria State.
Professor Choul welcomed the support from the state government and said the university leadership looks forward to working more closely with authorities to improve academic standards and strengthen the institution’s growth.
