Campaign Aims to Cut Malaria Cases Across Central Equatoria/PHOTO CREDITS: CESGPU
(JUBA) – Authorities in Central Equatoria State are preparing for a statewide distribution of long lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets aimed at reducing malaria infections among vulnerable families.
The mass distribution campaign is scheduled to begin today Wednesday 11th March and will target households across the state. Health officials say the programme is designed to protect communities, especially women and children, who face the highest risk from malaria.
Residents have been urged to use the nets for their intended purpose. Authorities warned that anyone found selling the free mosquito nets will face legal action, stressing that the supplies are meant solely for public health protection.
Health officials confirmed that preparations for the campaign are underway and that county commissioners, community leaders and health partners are being engaged to support a smooth and transparent distribution process across the state.
The State Ministry of Health and its partners say the campaign forms part of wider efforts to reduce malaria, which remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world and continues to pose a major health challenge in South Sudan.
State authorities say the initiative reflects continued efforts to protect communities and reduce the impact of malaria across Central Equatoria.
