(KAJO KEJI COUNTY) – Several major development projects aimed at improving rural roads, markets and farming support across three payams are set to begin in Kajo Keji County following talks between local authorities and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The planned work will cover Kangapo II, Lire, and Nyepo Payams. It focuses on better rural infrastructure, wider market access and stronger farm production.
A central part of the plan is the repair of key roads linking farms to markets. These include the route from Kimu to Nyainga Muda, from Mondikolok to Kudaji and from Kansuk to NangKongen villages. Better roads are expected to improve ties between farming areas and trading centres, cut transport costs and ease the movement of food crops.
The upgrading of Wudu Market into a modern facility, improvements at Nyepo Market and work on other strategic trading points also featured in the talks. The goal is to boost local trade and create a better setting for business.
In addition, eight farmer groups across the three payams are set to receive support. The help aims to raise farm output, strengthen food security and increase household earnings.
County Commissioner Wani Jackson Mule welcomed the partnership and called the projects a timely step for social and economic change in the county. He said the county government would work closely with development partners and communities to see the plans through.
Both sides ended the meeting hopeful that the work will improve rural lives, expand market links and promote lasting development in the area.
