Position Overview:
WFP South Sudan is seeking a Programme Policy Officer (School Feeding) to lead its school feeding programme. Reporting to the Head of Human Capital Development (HCD), the Officer will manage programme operations, coordinate with internal teams, government agencies, and external partners, and ensure alignment with national priorities and donor requirements.
The role focuses on sustaining access to education through school feeding initiatives, supporting the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSF), and integrating nutrition, resilience, and local food value chain development.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the school feeding programme team, ensuring coordinated operations and communication with field offices and HCD.

Provide operational planning, implementation, and oversight for school feeding activities, integrating nutrition and resilience strategies.

Review and support the implementation of the Home-Grown School Feeding strategy, ensuring policy alignment.

Liaise with government and sector stakeholders to support advocacy, resource mobilisation, and programme coherence.

Design and support community-led school feeding initiatives that strengthen local food systems.

Link school feeding programmes with smallholder agricultural market support (SAMS) initiatives.

Monitor programme quality, track progress, document operations, and identify gaps and solutions.

Support donor reporting, compliance, and proposal development.

Analyse programme data to inform improvements and ensure operational effectiveness.

Represent WFP in technical discussions with partners and stakeholders.

Contribute to capacity building of WFP staff, partners, and government agencies.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in nutrition, public health, food technology, agriculture, education, or related fields. Bachelor’s degree with additional experience may be considered.

Master’s degree holders: minimum 3 years’ relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree holders: minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.

Experience in programme management, school feeding, education, nutrition, or food assistance projects, preferably in UN agencies or international NGOs.

Proven ability to collect, analyse, and use programme data for decision-making.

Field monitoring, supervision, and technical support experience.

Strong organisational, communication, and MS Office skills.

Fluency in English.
