(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State Mujung Emmanuel met with a delegation from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Eminent Persons in South Sudan on Tuesday.
The delegation paid a courtesy visit to extend congratulations to the governor and to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation.
The meeting took place in Juba on 10 September 2025. The IGAD delegation was led by Hon. Dr. Manasseh Lomole Waya. Other members included the former Archbishop of Upper Nile Internal Province, the Right Reverend Hillary Garang, and Ms. Jackie Daro, who serves as Programme Officer at the IGAD Office in Juba.
The talks focused on IGAD’s current role in South Sudan, as well as possible future engagement in Central Equatoria State. According to officials present, the discussions were described as constructive and centred on shared priorities between the state government and the regional organisation.
Governor Mujung welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude for IGAD’s continued presence and support in South Sudan. He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to building closer cooperation with IGAD, noting that partnership with regional bodies remains important for peace, stability and development.
