(JUBA) – Stanbic Bank South Sudan has contributed 20,700,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), equivalent to 4,500 US dollars, to Scenius Hub in support of the Banat Initiative for Leadership and Digital Development (BiLDD) Alumni Office. The presentation took place in Juba as part of activities marking International Youth Day 2025.
The BiLDD Alumni Office coordinates cohorts of graduates from the Banat Initiative for Learning and Digital Development, a programme established by the National Communication Authority (NCA) to provide digital literacy training for young women and girls across South Sudan.
The initiative aims to equip participants with practical skills in information technology, online safety and digital leadership, helping to increase their participation in the country’s growing technology sector.
It also serves as a platform for young women to connect, share experiences and develop their careers.
During the cheque presentation, several senior representatives were in attendance. They included Dr Margaret Labanya, Head of Corporate at the NCA, Alam Chaat, Head of Diversified Sector at Stanbic Bank, Nelson Kwaje, Managing Director of Digital Rights Frontlines, Poni Henry, Programme Coordinator for BiLDD and Aluet Garang, Lead Alumni and Digital Literacy Trainer, who is also a graduate of the programme’s second cohort.
Stanbic Bank said the contribution reflects its commitment to youth empowerment and gender inclusion, particularly in the field of technology.
The bank emphasised that supporting initiatives like BiLDD aligns with its broader corporate social responsibility goals and helps address the digital divide in South Sudan.
Programme partners expressed appreciation for the support, noting that continued investment in digital literacy will enable more young women to take up leadership roles in both the public and private sectors.
They added that the initiative not only improves employment prospects but also contributes to innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.
