(JUBA) – A validation workshop on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) has opened in Juba, bringing together government ministries, faith leaders, development partners and civil society to review findings and shape the way forward for adolescent health and wellbeing in South Sudan.
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) South Sudan is facilitating the workshop in partnership with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction.
The gathering has brought together representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Juba, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, development partners, faith leaders, community leaders, school administrators, the National Bureau of Statistics and civil society organisations.
Participants are reviewing the evaluation findings and providing recommendations for strengthening Comprehensive Sexuality Education in South Sudan.
Through this multi stakeholder engagement, they are contributing views to ensure that CSE interventions are based on evidence, are culturally appropriate and respond to the realities facing young people across the country.
According to a press release by Norwegian Church Aid, the validation process marks an important step toward promoting informed decision making, positive health outcomes, gender equality and the overall wellbeing of adolescents and young people.
It also demonstrates a shared commitment among stakeholders to equip learners with knowledge and life skills that support healthier, safer and more resilient communities.
NCA said the effort represents an investment in a brighter future for South Sudan’s young people through collaboration, learning and evidence driven action.
The workshop comes as NCA also took part in a courtesy meeting between the leadership of the South Sudan Council of Churches and the Ambassador of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, H.E. Roar Haugsdal.
The meeting was headed by the Most Revd. Dr. Justin Badi Arama. It discussed the peace process, with particular attention on the role of church leaders in leading dialogue, advancing reconciliation and supporting efforts toward sustainable peace in South Sudan.
