
Over 10,000 Young South Sudanese Targeted in New Jobs Pact/PHOTO CREDITS: National Labour Portal
(JUBA) – A new partnership aims to provide vocational training and market skills to more than 10,000 young people across South Sudan.
The Ministry of Labour signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Organization for Migration on 18 June 2026 at the IOM headquarters in Juba. The deal sets up a cooperation framework to strengthen the country’s labour market through skills development.
Minister of Labour Anthony Lino Makana signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Chief of Mission Vijaya Souri signed for IOM South Sudan. Senior government officials including the Undersecretary and partners witnessed the ceremony.
Minister Makana said the Ministry remains committed to youth empowerment and that the partnership targets over 10,000 young people for training in market relevant skills.
IOM Chief of Mission Vijaya Souri pledged the organisation’s full backing for the initiative and continued collaboration with the government to promote decent work and sustainable livelihoods.
The Ministry of Labour stated it looks forward to putting the partnership into action to expand opportunities, boost employability, and contribute to national development.
