(YEI COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Yei River County has called for closer coordination among humanitarian agencies and local authorities to improve service delivery and avoid duplication of efforts.
Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme chaired the Area Reference Group meeting at the County Secretariat in Yei on 4th March 2026. The meeting brought together humanitarian organisations and heads of government departments working in the county.
Partners grouped under Health, Education, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, and Peacebuilding sectors presented reports on their work over the past two months. They outlined achievements, ongoing activities and plans for the coming period.
In his remarks, Commissioner Seme urged partners to align their activities with the County Strategic Plan. He said the plan reflects the needs of local communities, based on consultations at grassroots level, and should guide planning and service delivery.
He also called for stronger information sharing between agencies and government departments. The Commissioner asked partners to inform relevant authorities before carrying out activities and to avoid rivalry. He said cooperation is necessary to ensure resources are used well and communities receive consistent support.
Participants agreed to maintain close collaboration between humanitarian actors and county authorities. They said better coordination would improve the impact of projects and reduce overlap in services.
A press release from the County Press Unit said Yei River County continues to host a range of humanitarian interventions in health, education and water services.
It added that coordination remains vital as South Sudan works to strengthen local governance and improve basic services for communities recovering from years of conflict and economic hardship.
