(JUBA CITY) – South Sudan’s National Ministry of Health has opened the National Health Summit 2025 in Juba, bringing together government officials, health experts, aid agencies, civil society and private sector representatives to discuss how to strengthen the country’s fragile health system.
The summit runs from 02 to 05 December and has been organised by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the World Health Organisation and other development partners. It is being held under the theme “Transforming Health Systems for Equity, Resilience and Impact”.
According to the organisers, the event aims to renew cooperation among stakeholders, improve coordination and speed up progress in improving health services across the country. Officials say the gathering is important for reviewing the current state of the health sector and for shaping priorities for the next four years.
Opening the meeting on Tuesday, officials from the Ministry of Health said the country needs strong leadership, unity of purpose and consistent partner support to build a healthier future for all communities.
They noted that a more effective health system is necessary to improve access to services, prevent disease outbreaks and support a more productive population.
Development partners attending the summit said they hope the discussions will help identify gaps in service delivery and outline plans that can support the country’s long term health needs.
The summit also includes participation from state level representatives, health professionals, researchers and community based organisations, reflecting what the ministry describes as a collective effort to build a stronger health sector in South Sudan.
Photos shared by the Ministry of Health communications office showed delegates arriving at the venue and participating in the opening session.
The summit continues until Thursday.
