(JUBA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan has hosted a series of diplomatic meetings with foreign representatives and international organisations to reinforce bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The engagements also coincided with a government briefing on the new enhanced personnel verification and identification system aimed at improving public service accountability.
On 5 December 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya K. Kumba, received Mrs. Anna Cavell, the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark to South Sudan.
During the meeting, Mrs. Cavell presented her credentials, and the Minister reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between the two countries, emphasising the government’s commitment to advancing mutual interests.
Earlier, on 4 December 2025, Deputy Minister Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal met with H.E. Amb. Kossam Mupezeni, Zimbabwean Head of Mission to South Sudan, to explore opportunities in capacity building, economic development, and other shared areas of interest.
The same day, the Minister received Dr. Victoria Anib, the newly appointed Head of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), reaffirming South Sudan’s strong regional cooperation.
Engagements with human rights and international organisations also took place. Deputy Minister Akuei Bona Malwal held discussions with H.E. Eleanor Sanders, the United Kingdom Ambassador for Human Rights, focusing on enhancing cooperation on human rights issues.
On 3 December 2025, the Minister received Ambassador Aleksandr Kosmodemiyanskiy, the Russian Federation Ambassador-Designate to South Sudan, marking the official start of his diplomatic mission.
In addition to diplomatic activities, the Ministry, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Service and Human Resource Development, delivered a detailed briefing on the government’s new enhanced personnel verification and identification system.
The Director General, Mr. Abraham Makur Manot, explained that the system is designed to strengthen the integrity of public service records, improve workforce accountability, and support ongoing reforms to enhance efficiency and transparency across government institutions.
