(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, and the Azande King, Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue, have reaffirmed their cooperation to strengthen peace, unity and the role of traditional leadership in South Sudan.
The discussions took place in Juba on 2 February 2026 and focused on how traditional authority can support community unity and local governance in Central Equatoria State.
Governor Adil said his administration is committed to working closely with traditional leaders to promote peace, restore cultural values and strengthen social cohesion among communities. He said traditional institutions remain important in guiding communities and supporting stability at the local level.
The Azande King also stressed the need to consolidate peace and unity and to revive the role of traditional leadership in resolving community issues and preserving cultural heritage.
During the meeting, King Atoroba invited Governor Adil to attend the fourth anniversary of the restoration of the Azande Kingdom, scheduled to take place from 7 to 9 February 2026.
The Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, Paulino Lokudu Obede, also attended the meeting.
