Juba Joins Global Community in Peace Day Observance
(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, has issued a message marking the International Day of Peace, calling on all citizens to work together for a peaceful and united South Sudan.
Speaking from the State Government Secretariat in Juba on Friday, 19 September 2025, Governor Mujung said this year’s theme, “Act Now for a Peaceful South Sudan,” carries a strong reminder that peace means more than the absence of war. He explained that peace also requires justice, harmony and dignity within communities.
The Governor repeated the call by President Salva Kiir Mayardit for South Sudanese to reject violence, embrace dialogue and focus on healing the divisions created by years of conflict. He stressed that the responsibility of building peace belongs to everyone, so that future generations can grow up in a country marked by unity, stability and hope.
In his remarks, Governor Mujung urged state ministers, county commissioners, administrators, traditional leaders, youth and citizens across Central Equatoria to take practical steps to support peace at the local level. He said homegrown initiatives are key to ensuring that peace becomes visible in people’s daily lives.
The Governor also extended his appreciation to government partners, civil society, development organisations, and the private sector for their role in supporting peace and stability. He encouraged them to continue investing in community projects that strengthen resilience and promote social cohesion.
Mujung concluded his message with a blessing for Central Equatoria State and South Sudan as a whole, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to working with citizens and partners to secure a lasting peace.
