(JUBA) – Worshippers at St. John Presbyterian Church in Juba on Sunday received a strong call for unity, peace and forgiveness from the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel.
The Governor joined the congregation on 24 August 2025 for prayers led by Rev. Both Chuol Ngouth, Pastor in Charge. During the service, he used the pulpit to outline the state government’s priorities and urged the faithful to stand with the leadership in building harmony and stability.
Governor Mujung told the congregation that peace and security remain the foundation of progress in Central Equatoria. He described cases of murder, suicide and land grabbing as “internal insecurity” and pointed to the presence of armed groups outside peace agreements as a continuing “external insecurity.”
“It is our collective responsibility to combat insecurity so that we can live in a peaceful environment. The unity that brought us independence should now heal our divisions and guide us forward.”
He stressed that reconciliation requires a shared effort between citizens, churches and government. Addressing the worshippers, he called on them to practise forgiveness and work with their neighbours in order to rebuild trust and restore social cohesion.
The Governor was accompanied by senior state officials including Hon. Lupai Satimon, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Hon. Jacob Aligo, Minister of Peacebuilding, and Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, Commissioner of Juba County.
Mujung said their presence emphasised the government’s recognition of the church as a key partner in peacebuilding.
