

Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Germany (VSF Germany) is seeking a qualified and experienced Program Manager / Livestock Specialist to join its South Sudan Country Programme. The position is based in Akobo West, with regular travel to Juba for about 50 percent of the time.
VSF Germany is an international non profit organisation working to improve food security and livelihoods of pastoralist and vulnerable communities through animal health, agriculture, marketing and food safety interventions. The organisation operates in several countries in the Horn of Africa, including South Sudan.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, management and implementation of VSF Germany livestock and food security projects in South Sudan. The role also provides oversight on environmental and social safeguards across all VSF Germany projects in the country.
Key Responsibilities

Lead project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting

Manage project budgets and ensure compliance with donor and government requirements

Coordinate with partners including EU, WFP, local authorities and community structures

Supervise project teams and provide technical guidance

Support monitoring and evaluation activities and donor visits

Conduct needs assessments and contribute to proposal development

Ensure cross cutting issues such as accountability, community feedback and Do No Harm principles are applied

Represent VSF Germany in coordination forums and networks
Required Qualifications and Experience

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or a Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field

Minimum of eight years experience in project management, preferably in livestock, food security or resilience programmes

Strong leadership and team management skills

Knowledge of LEGS standards and community based animal health

Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages such as Nuer is an advantage

Ability to work in remote and challenging environments
